Martin Luther is born to Hans Luther and Margarethe Luther in Eisleben, Saxony (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) -

Legend says that after the black plague and then being caught in a terrible storm, Luther decided to become a monk to the surprice of everyone he knows. -

Luther becomes a Theology Professor
After receiving his doctorate in Theology, Luther began teaching the Plasms in Wittenberg. -

Luther's duties in the church increase (1513-1516)
Luther becomes a priest in Wittenberg, is appointed the Augustinian vicar for Meissen and Thuringia, and starts lecturing. -

Leipzig Debate
The debate. although including other participants, was mostly between Luther and Johann Eck. The debate pushed Luther until he said things that were considered Hersey. -

Papal bull Exsurge Domine
Leo X threatens to excommunicate Luther unless he recants 41 sentences that he wrote. -

Luther sets fire to a papal bull against him in Wittenberg -

Excommunication/Diet of Worms
Leo X excommunicates Luther with the papal bull Decet Romanum Pontificem. Later, Luther is asked to recant all that he has said, and refuses, saying that he is merely following the Scriptures. -

Escape
With the aid of Frederick III, Luther is escorted to Wartburg Castle at Eisenach where he'd be safe. -
