    Pre-marketing???

    Pre-marketing???
It began with (literal) brands (farming and the subsistence economy). People had to live on what they made, and often there was not much to trade or sell on. These markets were supply led, not demand driven.
  • Production era

    Production era
People got better at farming, safer trade routes were formed, and mass production happened. This led to the production era (1800s-1900s) , where more was produced, and so brands and messages became more important to attract consumers. Products were taken to markets to sell (where marketing gets its name from…) and production was separated from consumption.
  • Sales orientation era (1900s-1950s)

    Sales orientation era (1900s-1950s)
Competing shops and brands were set up, and so brands and messages became important to attract consumers This is where marketing as we know it today began to evolve.
With demand driven markets and the easily availability of products, the sales orientation era was born.
Lots of effort went into advertising and branding, along with having a strong sales force.
