    Kings Father and grandfather were both leaders of the NAACP.(National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) This influenced him to be in the NAACP and became the president. This leading to his "I have a Dream" speech and marching for a change.

    Turning Points "I have a Dream"
    Martin Luther King Jr. stood in front of thousands of people at Lincoln Memorial and spoke his "I have a Dream" speech. This speech changed peoples lives forever. It started the ball rolling for black peoples rights. It gave them hope that one day equality will happen, because people listened to King.

    In the link, it shows some peoples reactions to Kings "I have a Dream speech, either their in person or by telivision. Through their eyes they see a man who is standing up for rights, and what a boy said "was a powerful message." These people were going back to that day in history, remembering what it was like to live in it.

    Time Magazine's man of the year was Martin Luther King in 1964. He became man of the year because of his standing up for civil rights, and his "I have a Dream" speech. This moment effected people possitivly because if a black person could be on a magazine cover, so could other people. King gave hope to thousands of people across America.     King won the Nobel Piece Prize in 1964. This is a great honor for King because he was the youngest person to ever win a Nobel Piece Prize. As a prize he got $54,6000 and donated it all to the civil rights movement. For more information go to the link.

    Change "Death of King"
    Just over a decade of his "I have a Dream" speech, King was assassinated. Killed by a bullet going through his cheeck, down his spine, and into his shoulder.
