Charles Babbage invents the first Computer
Charles Babbage is said to be the father of the computers. 1837 he proposed the first general mechanical computer, it was called the Analytical Engine. It contained ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) basic flow control, punch cards and integrated memory. The machine would weigh five tons and measure eleven feet long + seven feet high. Its most revolutionary feature was the ability to change its operation by changing the instructions on punched cards, this machine drawing was the start of the computers -
Ada lovelace: the first computer programmer.
Ada realized that the computer could follow a series of simple instructions, a program, to perform hard calculations. She wrote the world's first machine algorithm for an early computing machine that existed only on paper (analythical engine), Ada suggested it had applications beyond just calculations. She lived in a time where women could hardly access basic education, let alone scientific. She had a unique insight into the potential of computers, and became a big part of computer science. -
John von Neumann came up with the idea that programs should be stored in memory along with the data.
He wrote a paper on the idea that programs should be stored in a memory along with the data. In 1945, in his first report to the EDVAC- one of the first american computers ever made (came after the ENAIC), he proposed the stored program concept. This development of a logical design for computers paid attention to the concerns, such as data storage and the computer's ability to process instructions. This design, called ”von Neumann architecture” became the basic concept of most computers today. -
J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly made/ invented the ENIAC
The whole name is (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), and it was the first computer to ever be made, Charles Babbage computer was only on paper. They invented it at the University of Pennsylvania and began the construction in 1943 but It was not completed until 1946. It occupied about 1,800 square feet and used about 18,000 vacuum tubes, it weighed almost 50 tons, so you can imagine how huge it was. This big computer laid the foundations for the modern electronic computing industry. -
Robert Noyce invented the integrated chip
Noyce invented the integrated chip, a chip of silicon with many transistors all etched into it at once. He revolutionized the industry with the use of silicon and He’s therefore nicknamed ”the Mayor of Silicon Valley” He revolutionized the semiconductor industry. Later, in 1968, he founded intel with Gordon Moore (Today Intel supplies microprocessors for computer system manufacturers such as Lenovo and Dell), around 60% of all the computers that we have today use Intel. -
Ray Tomlinson sends the worlds first email
A man named Ray Tomlinson developed the first system that was able to send mail between users on different hosts, using the @ sign to link the user name with a destination server. By the mid-1970s, this was the form recognized as email. Email has improved the communication between people, it’s fast, cheap, accessible and easily replicated. Using emails can also greatly benefit businesses as it provides efficient and effective ways to transmit all kinds of information/ electronic data. -
Bill gates, the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation.
I’m sure you have heard about Bill Gates, he’s important to the history of computers because he created Windows and Microsoft Office, which are two of the most useful and also most used programs in the world of computers. These programs are used both in the business world and on personal computers, the programs improve efficiency in very many ways. He revolutionised the technology industry, he personalised it and created one of the largest monopolies in the history of the U.S. -
When Steve and Steve founded APPLE
In 1976 both Steve wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computers, they released some of the first personal computers on the market. Apples computer was the first mass-market computer to use a graphical user interface ( an innovation that is the way that pretty much everyone interacts with a computer today) they also brought in mice, and helped bring computers to a range of industries including designers, but they also brought them into people's homes. -
Tim Berners-Lee invets the world wide web
while working at CERN, he created WWW (the world wide web). It was originally developed and conceived to meet the demand for automated information sharing between scientists in universities and institutes around the world, but that wasn't the case. The world wide web opened up the internet to everyone, not just scientists. It made it much easier for people to get information, communicate and share. the web has allowed people to reach out to the whole world, also contributing with knowledge.
