The Treaty of Paris gave the U.S. colonies of Guam, Puerto Rico, the Philipines, and parts in the West Indies in exchange for 20 million, ending the Spanish American war, the U.S. annexed Hawaii, and Teddy Roosevelt -
THE PROGRESSIVE ERA
Women took their right to vote, their were democratic reforms, environmental conservation became an agenda, and prohibition caused conflict across the country. -
WWI
-WWI was caused by alliances, imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.
-The Zimmerman telegram was a note proposing an alliance between Mexico and Germany if the US entered the war.
-Trench warfare and new weapons caused a lack of progress and increased fatalities.

-The 1920's was a time of prosperity and consumerism in the US.
-The Jazz age was a wave of jazz that swept the US.
-Flappers were women that danced in clothes that were formerly thought as scandalous.
-Prohibition caused uproar and bootlegging.
-The "new" KKK targeted immigrants, Jews, Catholics, or anyone with "un-American" values and their membership reached 4 million in the 1920's.
-The Scopes trial eventually led to the Butler act being repealed. -
