The American Revolution was fought between American colonists and Great Britain. The American colonists wanted their freedom from the British government. In the end, the American colonists won their independence and created the United States of America. -

Mexican American War
The Mexican American War was fought between the United Ststes and Mexico over who would control Texas. The war was resolved with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in which Mexico agreed to give up 55% of its territory and got $15 million dollars in return. -
Civil War
The Civil War was fought between the Southern states (the Confederacy) and the Northern states (the Union) over the issue of slavery in the United States. The Southern states wanted to keep slaves while the Northern states wanted to free slaves. The war ended with the surrender of the Confederate general, Robert E. Lee.
