Silk Road
The silk road was starting to be made in the 1700's and it was used to trade goods from one country to the other. The silk road is four times as big as California and is 6,000 square miles long. The silk road was also very rocky. Whenever people traveled on the silk road they were protected from robbers who wanted to take the goods being took to other countries. -

Marko Polo
Marko Polo was born in Venice and he had a talent for different languages. Marko was captured in a war between Genoa and Venice. Marko was very smart and kept records of everything that he saw, one time he saw people using paper money and was curious about it. -

Black Plague
The black plague was a time of suffering and death. The black plague was an illness that killed a forth of the population in Europe and back then that was lot of people. People would have swollen legs and hands, and their toes would be black. The people that had the black plague illness died and a few that had it would survive. It was a horrible disease and hopefully it never comes back to the world again. -

Renaissance
The renaissance period is when evrything went from bad to good. People learned how to paint three dimentional pictures. People got more knowledge because someone invented the telescope so people could see more of the sky and anything else wanteing to be seen. People didn't have to struggle because newer people had come to the world and they had more knowledge then a lot of other people. People that knew how to build statues made really cool statues that had better facial expressions. -

Prince Henry
Prince Henry was born in 1394 and died in 1460. Prince Henry as a young man, was inspired to explore the west coast of Africa. Prince Henry wanted to fight the muslims and spread christianity. Henry developed a school totrain and support people who had the desire to explore. Henry's goals were to update maps and establish trade routes. His school taught men astronomy and navigation. Henry also made exploration safer by improving the astrolobe. The ship that Henry used was called the Caravel. -

Christopher Columbus
Columbus was born in 1451 and he was trying to find a sea route instead of using the silkroad . Columbus thought that Asia, Africa, Europe, China and India were the only places on Earth. When he estimated he over estimated the size of Asia under estimated of the ocean. Columbus was wrong and right and switched the whole map. He died a sad man at around 55 years of age. He wanted his sun to be just like him and he wanted his sons kids to be just like his son. -

Hernan Cortes
He was born 1485. When Cortes was 19 he went on a journey to Hispanolia. He was awarded lots of land slaves. In 1517 people were beginning to discover Mexico. On his journey, Cortes decided to sail farther only to fing no gold. Cortes landed on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico and his men found a lot of gold to take with them. In 1519 Cortes and his men went to Aztec to start a war to take over Mexico. Later on people thought that Cortes was a god and they gave him anything that he wanted. -

Amerigo Vespucci
Amerigo traveled to South America in 1499 and ended his journey in 1500. He named it the "New World". -
Erik The Red continued
of the estate that Erik built. One group of immagrants that arrived in 1002 brought with it an epidemic. The immagrants killed a lot of people in the same year including Erik in 1003. The colony was able to be kept until the 15th century, shortly before Columbus made his fateful journey. It was told that Erik had four children and their names were, Freydis, Leifur, Porvald and Porsteinn. Erik was a pagan, unlike his son Leifur. -
Erik The Red
Erik explored the Greenland coast and he found Norse colonies there in 985. His son Leif and him are both part of the Icelandic sagas. Erik was born in Norway and accompinied his father to western Iceland when Thorvald was exiled for manslaughter. Erik was told to leave later because there was another murder and that was in 982. Erik wanted to go further west of Iceland to only figure out that an earlier explorer named Gunnbjorn. In 985 Erik established two colonies and Bratthlio was the name -
Vikings
The vikings had to look for new farmland because there was big population growth between Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In 900 A.D. the vikings sight Greenland. Everyone thought of the vikings as people with swords and knives, but that was not all true. People also thought that the viking people were bad because they would would come and take everyones food and other things needed to survive. The vikings were mean people but they are not as bad as people think, everyone has to survive. -

This timeline is about the great explorers from the 900's to the 1600's. This timeline will give you all of the information that is needed on the explorers. Some people that are in the timeline are Columbus, Vespucci and Cortes. The black plague is also part of this timeline along with the vikings and the silk road. My favorite event out of all 11 events would have to be the silk road because the silk road has so much history. The silk road was a route used to pass goods to other countries.
