Because of the bad financial situation of France, King Louis XVI agrees to the first meeting of The Estates General in 175 years. The 3rd Estate was locked out of the meeting. This was when the National Assembly was formed. -

Robespierre, head of the Committee of Public Safety, makes terror "the order of the day". Anyone who is suspected of being against the new France is beheaded. Robespeirre equates virtue with terror. -
Maximilien Robespierre Executed
After many become upset with the amount of killing during the Reign of Terror, Robespeirre is overthrown after he withholds a new list of people suspected of being traitors to the National Convention. He and his allies were guillotioned the day after they were arrested, without trials. -
