Birth
William Golding was born in Cornwall, England. In his childhood he lived next to a graveyard with his mother and father. -
Early childhood
William received his education at the school his father ran. He also attempted to write a novel which was unsuccessful. Due to the stress and frustrations, he started bullying his peers. He described his childhood self as a brat and said he enjoyed hurting people. -
Young adult
William moved on to attend Brasenose college at Oxford university. In 1934, he graduate then published his first book which he called Poems. -
Teaching
William worked in settlement houses and theater for a little while. Then he decided to follow his father footsteps in 1935 by teaching English at Bishop Wordsworths school in Salisbury. -
Royal navy
Golding left teaching to join the navy and fight in world war 2. After the war, Golding returned to teaching. -
Lord of the Flies
After 21 rejections, golding published his first book Lord of the Flies. It is now considered a classic book to many and is discussed all over the world. -

On this date william golding died from a heart attack. After his death, his book the Double Tongue was published.
