Miles meets the Colonel and Alaska
He arrives campus, meets his roommate the Colonel, and his gorgeous friend Alaska. His impression of those two is that they have a different attitude and point of view of life than himself. -
Miles has an traumatic experience
In the middle of the night, Miles gets dragged out wearing only boxers by a gang. They wrapped him in duct tape and left him in the water at the beach. He managed to get out of the water and back to campus by himself. The reason why they did this was to take revenge on the Colonel who they assumptioned ratted out one of them. -
Dr Hyde's class
Miles finds dr. Hydes religion class very interesting and meaningful, and his values becomes a red line through the novel. -
Lara
Miles and Lara becomes a couple, Alaska is clearly jealous. The two are very different people, and Lara does not really understand Miles' metaphorical phrases. -
Thanksgiving
The Colonel's mom invites Alaska and Miles to eat dinner on thanksgiving with them. Alaska and Miles bonds. -
Alaska's mood swings
Alaska comes to Miles, sobbing. She feels hopeless and wonders why she "screws everything up". Miles talks to her. -
Alaska's breakup
Alaska and her boyfriend Jake breaks up, and later we find out that the reason why is because she wants to be available to someone else. -
The prank
The Colonel, Lara, Alaska and miles takes revenge on the weekday warriors, which are the rich people that have behaved bad. Its a prank including blu food color in their shampoo, and fake progress reports that they plant at one of the teachers' office. -
Lara and Miles breaks up
Miles finds realizes how different they are and finds out that they are better off just friends. -
The Colonel get's busted
The colonel is the only one who gets busted for the prank, and he gets suspended. This really breaks him and he feels likes he has been stabbed in the back, because it was Alaska's idea. -
Miles and Alaska
The two really bonds during truth or dare with only them, and wine. They confesses their love for each other and get intime. -
Alaska looses it
Alaska comes wasted, sobbing in to Miles' and the Colonel's room. She yells that she needs to "get out of here", and the boys helps her get out of campus by firing off fireworks to keep away the teachers. Alaska drives out drunk. -
The accident
The next day, the principle called everyone to the gymnasium with a serious mine. He says that Alaska has been in a car accident, probably drunk, and that he had seen her dead. -
Not an accident
Miles and the Colonel does some digging and conclude that Alaska's death wasn't an accident, but a suicide. one evidence is that the police could not find any trace of Alaska trying to turn the car to avoid crashing. Miles is broken. -
One-hundred and thirty six days after
Miles and the Colonel receives a letter from Takumi, telling that he saw Alaska on the night of her death and that she said she was putting flowers on her mother's grave. He admits that he let Alaska go too, after blaming the Colonel and Miles for her death.
