Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

  • My draft preliminary task: movie poster

My draft preliminary task: movie poster
This is my draft version of my preliminary task and i used Photoshop to create this task. Creating this has allowed me to gain some basic skills using Photoshop and as i have been working on my main preliminary tasks, i have gathered many skills to create my main task. This production was very successful because it was very detailed, positioned and it included most of the conventions of a move poster for instance, an age restriction, title, main image and a block.
  • Preliminary Task

    Preliminary Task
This is my preliminary task where i had to gather some essential resources and research on typical informal and, or formal magazines front covers and, also content pages. (http://shaminas-as-media-blog.blogspot.co.uk/2012_11_01_archive.html) In this specific link; you will get the chance to see both of my main preliminary tasks. These tasks were aimed at sixthformers around the age of 16 to 19 and this is because this magazine specifically includes and offers what students would usually want.
  • This is my contents page (preliminary task)

This is my contents page (preliminary task)
This is a very simple contents page and usually college/sixthform magazines are basic and they look more formal than it looking informal. This content page sticks to its conventions as it has page numbers, more than one image but it does not have a main image like other magazines. The two preliminary tasks were created using Photoshop therefore i have gained more useful skills in order to produces my tasks.
  • Photoshop

    Photoshop
The software Photoshop happened to be the only software i felt really confident with as i have used it to create my preliminary tasks and my main tasks and throughout the whole process of experiencing Photoshop i believe that i have gained many skills and i find it more easier to use now.
  • Research advantages

    Research advantages
I believe that my research and plannings for my production has helped me out a lot as it provided me with a simple base for the making of my productions. I was able to gather information and do some useful analysis of which would help me improve on my final productions and, also make it look more appealing for my target audience. I have also created a questionnaire for my target audience to see what they would expect in an actual magazine.
  • Final production

    Final production
When starting my final production i felt that the research and skills i had developed from my preliminary task and i was able to acknowledge what will fit into my front cover, contents page and my double page spread. I decided to make my final productions a little unique by staying away from the conventions of a typical magazine. For instance; for my double page spread i added a image of an album cover which usual double page spreads don't have but instead they have more than one main image.
  • Progression

    Progression
Looking back at my preliminary, i have managed to acknowledge the fact that i have developed many skills and i have also become confident using useful softwares. My preliminary task was more simple compared to my main task since my final production really sticked to the conventions and it looked more complex.I have also enjoyed the whole process as i managed to work on it fully and research on many other magazines. I also enjoy the idea that it was appealing towards my target audience.
  • New front cover

    New front cover
I had to change my image after a new photoshoot so it represents the genre of my magazine and fits in well.
