My literacy development from as far back as I can remember to now.

I learned to read and write in Mrs. Miller's Kindergarten classroom at Visalia Christian Schools.

My parents decided to homeschool in 1st grade.

My parents introduced me to the local library, Tulare County Library, which influenced my reading abilities in 2nd grade.

In 5th grade, I was asked to keep a reading booklist of all the books I read throughout the year. I read 101 books that year.

In 8th grade, I read Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice and absolutely fell in love with it.

I took the California High School Profficiency exam and graduated high school, scoring the highest on the English, reading comprehension, and essay portion of the test.

My first college English class was at COS with Charles Parker as the professor. He influenced my decision to become a high school English teacher

British Literature at COS changed my view on what literature classes would be like, and I enjoyed the class.

"Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad was by far one of the hardest books I have read and analyzed in a class. It was a challenge, but in English 4, Proffesor Jane Thomas made it fun and understandable.

I worked in the COS Writing Center as a tutor my last semester at COS.
