When I was little I liked when Mom used to read " Velveteen Rabbit" By: Margery Williams. -
Learned to read
Ms.Morris taught us how to read. We learned to read basic sentences and sight words. -
Wrote poem
In second grade I started to write.My teacher assigned the class a poem to write. The poem was about the High School my Mom used to work. I entered my poem in a poetry contest and it won. The prize was money. -
Learned to recite poems
In Third grade, Mrs. Manning, taught us how to remember and recite poems. I only remember one poem all the way through. That poem is " Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," By Robert Frost. I can still recite it. This is when I developed my love for Robert Frost. -
Spelling test
In 4th grade we had to do spelling test once a week. -
5th Grade
The teacher read us a chapter book everyday. The book was out of the Percy Jackson books. -
Grammar Worksheets
In Ms.Steven's 6th grade class. We always had grammar test once a week and every Friday after we learned a new grammar skill we would review then take a test. -
6th grade band
In 6th grade I started band classes. We read music, and learn how to play the music. We had to learn rhythm and notes/ positions. I chose the trombone and at first it was hard then it got easier. -
Reading in 7th grade
In Ms.Lyons class for 90 minutes a day we would read. We got to choose the book, but we read continuously. It is hard to read for 90 minutes everyday. -
8th Grade
In 8th grade we had creative writing. Mrs. Reinhardt assigned the class different writing projects. I wrote a poem "The Devil's Bath Tub" and the year after I put it in a contest and won 2nd place. My favorite genre to write and read is poetry. -
Reading in 8th grade
As a class we had to read "Romeo and Juliet" and it felt like the longest play ever. We had to memorize the beginning and recite it. -
9th Grade
In Mrs.Jackson's English class, we did a novel project. We had to read a book and do four activities over it. This was a memorable experience because I was able to read and enjoy interacting with my novel. In class we also did grammar bell works. We read stories and had to comprehend to answer the questions she would ask. She always made us think before we were able to answer. Along with reading, Mrs. Jackson also used the other strands of literacy.
