Literacy Process

  • Before birth

My parents read to me before I was born which I found to be interesting
  • 0-5 years

From 2002-2007 my parents read me children's book to me everyday a lot including before I went to bed everyday because I could not read
  • 2007

I was taught how to read which was something I enjoyed and was learned by my parents and teachers
  • 5 years old

Once I learned how to read sometimes I would read myself and sometimes I would have my parents read to me everyday
  • 5 years old

My parents took me to my first library to check out books and they also enrolled me and really fun classes. The only thing I remember doing is making crafts based on the book we read
  • Middle School

I enjoyed the book I read in middle school and sometimes I would have my mom read the chapters to help me understand what was going on. I still do but I am more independent now but I learned better when I listened to someone read to me
  • High School

When I got to high school I lost interest in reading because of the books we had to read in school so I stopped reading all together
  • Covid-19

During the pandemic and discovered that I like reading again and found out that my favorite genre is fiction books
  • College

When I graduated and moved to college I didn't really read much because of school, I didn't loose interest but I just never really had the time to my first year at HCC
  • Right Now

I have more free time to I read everyday before I go to bed for at least 1 hr but my limit and 2 hrs so I read a few chapters a day and absolutely love it!
