The Cotton Gin is Born!
This invention predates the 19th century by a bit.
In 1794 Eli Whitney patented himself the cotton gin! This invention mechanically seperated the good cotton from the troublesome seeds. This way, a slave could do fifty times to work with almost double the effort! Good for him!

The Embargo Act of 1807
The embargo act was a total blockage of sales to and from Great Britain and France during Napoleon's Wars. This was largely backlash against the Franks and Brits molesting the goods of American sailors, under the pretext of what amouted to "spoils of war." -
"We Lost This One" A.K.A The War of 1812
The war of 1812 was our second war fought against Britain, this time, however, freedom did not reign supreme. America had may reasons as to why they declared war on Canada, including trade restrictions, and the basic kidnapping of American Sailors by the Brits.
Officially, the war ended with no boudary changes and a Military Stalemate, howver, it is widely seen as a defeat in large part due to severely incompetent Leaders. Oh, and those bleedin' Canucks burnt down the White House. -
Good God, Great Balls of Fire!
After thoroughyl whipping our collective posteriors during the wa of 1812, the British soldiers marched into Washington and burned our nation's capitol to the ground. -

Alabama was entered in as a free state. Ha! No, it was very much a slave state. very much. Right before the Missouri Compromise as well. -
The Missouri Compromise
This was a compromise between anti and pro keeping-humans-in-chains-and-cages camps. The states in question were Missouri and many other territories recieved in the Louisiana Purchase. They agreed to ban slavery north of Missouri's Southern border, and Maine entered the Unioun as a free state. Everyone and no one was happy for thirty four beautiful years. -
The Tariff of Abominations
The Tariff of 1828(lovingly called the Tariff of Abominations), were import taxes placed by the American Congress. They claimed that they were set to protect American Sales.In a classic example of why Tariffs don't work, the South was badly harmed by the sudden massive price increase of goods that they did not produce. Since it was the Yankee's idea to impose the tax, the North-South divide increased. -
President Andrew Jackass
Andrew Jackson was the president that made the symbol for Democrat's the Jackass. He did that. Yeah that's all you need to know. Guy also ordered the forceful removal of a bunch of natives. The name was well deserved. -
Compromise Two: Electric Boogaloo
In yet another ideological battle of the North and South, the status of states acquired in the Mexican-American war were in question. This compromise brought about the wonderfully constitutional Fugitive Slave Act for the South, and the Gold Filled California as a free state for the North. -
Compromise Three:At Compromise's End
The Kansas-Nebraska Act brought about the territorial boundaries of Kansas and Nebraska, and voided the claims of the Missouri compromise by letting settlers of each territory vote on becoming Slave or Free. The settlers had peaceful town meeting and decided the fate over warm hot cocoa and chestnuts roasting by the fire.

BLEEDIN' KANSAS
Bleeding Kansas is the descriptive title of the seven years Abolotionists and Racists spent killing each other. The decision on whether or not to keep slaves was not handled peacefully nor legally, and the settlers instead decided to kill as many of the opposing group as possible.
It is considered a victory for the Free States. -
Dred Scott v. Sandford
The worst Supreme Court decision in History. Move over Korematsu, you're just a side piece in this racism combo meal. The supreme court ruled that a slave was not an American citizen, so Dred Scott could not sue for his freedom. Even though his massa's done brought him to a free state. -
SOUTH CAROLINA DONE UP N LEFT
South Carolina was the first southern state to decide that they didn't need no Yankees tellin' 'em wahs what. They violently supported the institution of slavery, and were sick and tired of the North tryin' to force such headonist ideals such as human rights on them.
