Lifespan Development: Timeline Final Project

  • Beginnings (Prenatal Development & Birth)

My parents had to go through the long processes involved with fertility treatments in order to conceive. My mother had multiple miscarriages before finding out she was pregnant with triplets in 1992. However, there were some complications, and she miscarried a baby at 26 weeks. Leaving my twin brother and I. The pregnancy went relatively smoothly considering the roller coaster they had been on over the time trying to conceive. I howver caused some sort of malfunction because my brother and I

Had far more doctors appts than most babies due to being born 10 wks premature. Slept in crib with monitors and alarms on us for months after coming home. Walked sooner than twin brother did, also began talking sooner and would "translate for him" according to my cousins that babysat us. We had all of our immunization and vaccines. My mother could not breast feed so we were put on special formulas.I was a very playful and happy baby, rarely afraid of anything, I was easily potty trained

    First 2 years

Very little stranger wariness, no seperation anxiety from parents due to them rarely being around. Never went to daycare, taken care of by cousins and aunts as a small child. I rarely had tantrums, Insecure-avoidant attachment to parents since I was a small child.

    Early Childhood

I was a fast learner, took dance, did gymnastics, always outside running around and playing. I had a very active imagination always telling stories and playing make believe. My cousins were my main mentors and role models.Went to a private preschool and elementary school. Strong emotional regulation and effortful control. Always pushed myself to succeed, never give up. Authoritarian parents, though they never pushed gender roles and let me choose my interests.

    Middle Childhood

Very healthy child, strong immune system, overly active and always up to something. I got braces just after turning 11 to help fix my teeth. I had an extensive vocabulary and was quick at problem solving, so I was put into accelerated learning programs whenever available. I always looked to others for ways to improve myself or learn new things. Never strived to be popular and always defended anyone who was bullied.

    Adolescence

At 14 my relationship with my parents went from bad to worse and by 15 I had moved out to live with extended family for hopes of a healthier living environment. By 18 I was working no less than 2 jobs at a time and paying my own bills, bought my own car, got my license with the help of my uncle, and had applied and been accepted into multiple universities. SInce 13 I had fought with ADHD, depression, anxiety and panic dissorder; none of which I could afford to seek treatment for yet.

    Adolescence

I graduated high school in may of 2011 and began my progress towards my nursing degree at Oakland University that fall, moving yet again to a location that fit the needs of my life. I then moved back the following spring to transfer to schoolcraft college due to a death in the family. Adolescence was never ending with ups and downs but I made it through.
  • Period: to

    Adolescence

I started puberty right on track, getting my period just before I turned 13. I stopped getting taller around 17 years old. At 16 I started dealing with health problems and am still to this day going through never ending processes of finding how to diagnose and treat everything together. I was told at 17 that I may never be able to have children and they were considering a hysterectomy. I was always a hard working student with a small close knit group of friends that I am still close with.

    Emerging Adulthood

I am currently within the span of emerging adulthood. At 18 I had begun University and a few months in was being hospitalized due to complications with health problems and becoming incredibly sick. A few months later just after the start of winter semester I lost my paternal grandmother and decided I was going to transfer to schoolcraft to be closer to extended family and friends for support and help with my health concerns,It was a hard decision but one that I do not at all regret.

    Emerging Adulthood

I continued progress towards my nursing degree at schoolcraft starting summer of 2012, and am still working towards it (currently completing pre requisites towards my bachelors tranfer credits). I have not worked less than 2 jobs at any time while attending school and for a year and a half was working 5 jobs at once while attending school simply to make ends meet. I also began caregiving for my great grandma in 2012 so that she would not have to be moved into an assisted living community.

    Emerging Adulthood

In March of 2015 I got into a relationship with someone that I fell hard and fast for, in July 2015 we were in an accident while going for a ride on his Harley. We broke up for 2 weeks and then got back together, and moved into an apartment about a month after that. Once we were in the apartment he became controlling and physically and verbally abusive. I had miraculously become pregnant and before I could tell him that I was, he had caused me to have a miscarriage, this was early this year.

    Emerging Adulthood

While dealing with trying to escape an abusive situation I was also taking care of my maternal grandfather with hospice and we lost him December 30th 2015. Two weeks after was when I had my miscarriage and by then I was close to having a way out of my lease and away from the relationship. I was beginning to find myself again.
  • Emerging adulthood

Finally, in late July of 2015, I was able to begin seeing a therapist and psychiatrist to get help with my ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, and Panic Disorder. While I still battle with all of these mental health concerns every day, the counseling and medicinal therapies have helped a lot and I have come a long way towards becoming a better me and being able to truly be happy again.
  • Period: to

    Adulthood

I have not reached adulthood yet, but I do hope to complete my schooling and obtain a job working in a hospital as a nurse by the time I am 27. I also hope to find someone to spend my life with and hopefully buy a home and start a family with. I hope to find happiness and stability and live to be healthy and old. I want to eventually get to travel the world and live a full life without regrets.
  • Period: to

    Late Adulthood

I hsve not reached late adulthood, but I hope to be as happy and successful as my family members who are in the stages of late adulthood. I hope to be well established and maybe retire (though as much as I loce medical jobs I may work for as long as I possibly can. I hope to be surrounded with family and close friends.
  • Predicted Death

I have predicted my death to be around 85 years old, My family has an high average lifespan, snd factoring in my health and the advances in medicine, I hope to live as long as is possible and hope to die happy and of natural causes in my home. I do not want to be put into an assisted living or die in some sort of medical center or a hospital. I want to pass somewhere where I am truly comfortable.
