Sergeant Charles Floyd dies near what is now Sioux City in Iowa. He is the only fatality. -
Bear Sighting
The explorers have their first encounter with a Grizzly bear. -
Sacagawea is Reunited
Sacagawea, one of the Corp's guides, finds her long- lost brother, now the Cheif of her old tribe, the Shoshone. -
Mount Hood
Clark sights Mount Hood in present- day Oregon. -
Everyone votes
The explorers vote on where they should locate their winter camp. This is the first recorded time in American history that a slave and a woman were allowed to vote. -
Explorers Split up
Lewis takes 9 men to explore a shortcut to Great Falls and the rest travel down the Yellowstone River. -
Lewis Shot
Lewis is accidentally shot by one of the men traveling with him, also making the last entry in his journal. -
Reunited
The Corps of Discovery is reunited and continues on their journey. -
Return
Lewis and Clark along with the rest of the Corps of Discovery return to St. Louis.
