Lessons Learned Between the Hashes

  • First day of Freshman Football Lifting.

First day of Freshman Football Lifting.
On this day everyone got prepared to start our high school football careers. Through the weight room, we prepare ourselves physically for the upcoming season. These conditioning sessions taught me discipline.
  • Phil Dorn Camp

    Phil Dorn Camp
I attended Phil Dorn Football camps ever since I was little, but now I'm attending the camp as a worker, not a camper. This allowed me to socialize with the older varsity players. Through the camp, Phil Dorn taught everyone key aspects about the game of football, and life. He focused on the aspect of humility a lot. This helped me to learn the idea that humility is apart of every great athlete.
  • First Day of Real Practice

    First Day of Real Practice
Finally, after countless days of lifting and running, we are ready to get our positions and helmets. At this moment, I learned that hard work really does pay off, and was rewarded with a starting position on both sides of the ball.
  • First Game against Estero

    First Game against Estero
Before this game, the four captains were announced. When my name was called, I felt all the hard work over summer was worth it. I wore #80. I felt honored to have the opportunity to lead. Through the position they gave me, I learned that leadership is not something to be taken lightly, and I was expected to be a good example to my team mates.
  • First JV Game

    First JV Game
Our JV team consisted of 13 players. This meant everyone went both ways, with little to no subs. This taught me that, even though the odds are against us, it doesn't mean we don't go out there and give it our all. No matter the outcome.
  • First Summer Lifting Session of the New Season

First Summer Lifting Session of the New Season
Now being on varsity, the level of competition and work load is a lot greater than that of JV. I learned to work hard, and to earn everything I achieve on and off the field.
  • First Varsity Game

    First Varsity Game
After countless hours of preparation, the team is finally ready to compete in the first game of the season. I earned a starting spot, and am ready to prove myself as worthy of the position. This taught me that no matter of high up you get in society, if you're not worthy of the position, it is all for nothing.
  • Last First Session of Summer Lifting

Last First Session of Summer Lifting
Not believing it at first, I wake up for my last first day of summer lifting sessions. It almost feels fictional that this is the last season of my high school football career. This taught me that everything comes to an end, and that ending is apart of our society if we like it or not.
  • First Game Vs Estero

    First Game Vs Estero
The first game goes by quickly. We crushed the opponent swiftly and easily. This season looks like it will be a successful one. Even though we were a lot better than previous year, our coach preached to us that we must stay humble and keep our heads. This taught me that no matter how good you're, without keeping your head, you will end up losing at some point in time.
  • Second Game Against Cardinal Mooney

    Second Game Against Cardinal Mooney
This game we were predicted to lose by 21 points. We end up winning that game and proving everyone wrong. Through this, I learned that it doesn't matter what other people think, anything is possible through hard work.
  • Third Game Agaisnt Mariner

    Third Game Agaisnt Mariner
Durin this game, we are only up by 7 at half, but by the end of the game we win 48-0. Our teams talent is the best it's been in 10 year. Even though we are winning, the coach is still preaching about hard work and humility. Through this, I understand once again that without humility and hard work, you will eventually lose.
  • Non Excidet

    Non Excidet
Looking back at my high school football career, I realize how much the game actually taught me. Not only did it teach me discpline and humility, but also it taught me to be a team player. Through all the lifting, I leaned that nothing worth anything is don't over night. Also I leaned that "if you want something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done."
