Environmental Factors
"People don’t realize how much environmental factors can impact your health." (iBook pg.2). Things in the environment like, air, food, and water quality, can greatly affect someones personal health without them knowing. It is also possible for noise to cause more stress and affect personal health. Problems in the environment are hard to control but paying attention to those problems will help in the long run with personal health. -

Genetic Factors
"Sometimes changes cause little differences, like hair color. Other changes in genes can cause health problems." (iBook pg.4) Genes are passed down from parents to children and some times the genes aren't copied correctly. These changes aren't terrible most of the time but the can cause health problems. There isn't much to do when a health problem occurs from genetics but knowing about possible problems can help prevent them from becoming a problem. -

Personal Connection
My grandmother has a disease that is genetically passed which caused some concern for my family because no one knew that someone in the family had that disease. Once we found out about the disease we all got tested to see if we have the genes that caused her to get sick. "Genetic testing usually involves taking a sample of someone's blood, skin, or amniotic fluid and checking it for genetic changes." (iBook pg.4) -

Personal Connection
This wasn't a great experience but I learned that my grandmother was sick but I was able to learn that I don't carry any genes that can cause me to become sick. My family learned a lot about our genes when we all got our blood tested. I am happy that no else in my family is at risk for getting the disease. This was a positive impact because I don't have to worry about my genetics causing health problems in the future.
