  • Korean War on the year of 1950 (Part 1)

    This war happened between the Democratic People’s Republic and the Republic of Korea. North Korea was the first to attack with armed conflict on June 25, 1950. The United Nations said that their soldiers were authorized to intervene. The United Nations supported the South Koreans. The Soviet Union and Chinese army however, supported the North Koreans. The active stages of the war ended on July 27, 1953 when the border between North and South Korea was established.

  • Failed assassination attempt on President Harry S. Truman on the year of 1950 (Part 1)

    Harry S. Truman has had 2 assassination attempts on his life. This one was the second of two and happened on November 1, 1950. The attempt was arranged by Griselio Torresola and Oscar Collazo who believed that Puerto Rico should be independent. They found out that the president was staying at the Blair House. This assassination attempt failed just like the first one. Torresola was shot 2 inches from the ear (by one of the presidents officers named Coffelt) which killed him immediately. Collazo

  • Immigration and Nationality Act on the year of 1952

    The Immigration and Nationality Act was made on June 27, 1952. This act restricted any immigrants from making it over the border into the United States without a green card. This act has been in effect since December 24, 1952 and parts of the act still remain to till this day. This was the first immigration law that was organized under one body of text. Most immigration laws were made under a few bodies of text not one.

    In this election the two final nominees for president were Dwight D. Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower was a Republican candidate and Stevenson was a Democratic candidate. Eisenhower won with 30 states and 55.2% of the voters. Stevenson lost with 9 states and 44.3% of the voters. Eisenhower became the next president of the United States and Richard Nixin became the next vice president of the United States. This was the end of he United States election on the year of 1952.
  • Cuban missle crisis on the year of 1962 (Part 1)

    This Cuban missile crisis was between the United States and the Soviet Union with Cuba. The Soviet Union built missile bases in Cuba during the Cold War which was said to strike at most parts of the United States. The United States then demanded that the Russians take their missiles back to their country and leave Cuba. The Russians agreed only if they United States take their missiles out of Turkey and Italy. They both agreed on this and the United States then stopped the blockade so the

  • The Twenty-sixth Amendment made on the year of 1971

    The Twenty-sixth Amendment was a law that allowed people over the age of eighteen to vote. The congress enforced this article by legislation. Over the time period of 6 months most of the states agreed on this law. The only states that did not are Utah, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Florida, Kentucky, and finally Nevada. Till this day these states have still not agreed on this law and might never will.
