Lee Felsenstein participated in the Free Speech Movement and was arrested during the Sproul Hall sit-in at the University of California, Berkeley. -
Graduated
Lee Felsenstein graduated from Berkeley with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science in 1972. This was after he dropped out for several years to work as a junior engineer at Ampex. -
Community Memory Project
In 1973 Felsenstein developed the Community Memory Project with Efrem Lipkin, Mark Szpakowski, and others. Community Memory was designed around the counter-cultural ideals of decentralization, low cost, and open access. -
Homebrew Computer Club
Lee Felsenstein was one of the original members of the Homebrew Computer Club. Hackers came together to exchange ideas during weekly meetings. This eventually helped launch the personal computer revolution. -
Sol
Felsenstein and Bob March started there design for the Sol. -
Sol Prototype
After six weeks of fourteen to seventeen hour work days, the Sol Prototype was complete. At first, it did not work. Felsenstein found the errors and fixed them. It was later on display at a show in Atlantic city. -
Osborne 1
in 1981, the Osborne 1 was released. It was created by Adam Osborne and designed by Lee Felsenstein. It was the first portable microcomputer -

Lee helped design the first wearable computer with Reddy Information systems -
Pioneer
Lee was named "Pioneer of the Electronic Frontier" by the Electronic Frontier Foundation -
Free Speech Movement Archives
He founded the Free Speech Movement Archives which is an online record of the movement that was very important to him and thousands of others in the 60's. -
Open Source
Lee worked with the Jhai Foundation to create an open source computer for developing countries. -

Felsenstein was goven the Editor's Choice Award for Creative Excellence by EE Times Mag. -
