  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    Ratified on December 6th, 1865, it was illegal to bring or have slaves in the US. It didn't end slavery permanently but it was a start for a new change.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    It was ratified on July 9th, 1968. Granted any natural or African American born in the US to vote and have their civil rights. Confederate states had to accept this amendment to regain federal representation.
  • The Enforcement Acts

    The Enforcement Acts
    Enforced to protect the African Americans' right to vote and equal protection. It was made to restrict the K.K.K. from torturing or killing any African Americans.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    This amendment was ratified on February 3rd, 1870. It allowed African American men to vote and it was illegal to disturb the voting process. However, the former confederates still managed to add poll taxes, unnecessary literacy, and other qualifications.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1875

    Civil Rights Act of 1875
    It guaranteed the rights of the citizens in the US to have equal rights, regardless of color. However, there were still some whites who weren't accepting of African Americans.
