Plessy v Ferguson
Homer Adolph Plessy was a black man who was arrested and jailed. This happened due to him sitting in a whites only car, when blacks and colored people were supposed to sit in a separate car from whites. He took a vacant seat on a whites only car and refused to move. -

Unfortunately the verdict was said to be constitutional. The separate but equal act was still in place. It was said to be constitutional because they are still to be separate from whites on buses, and cars and things like that. -
Brown v Board of Education
Linda Brown was a young girl who wanted to go to school with whites. At the time, colored people and whites were still separate but equal. Schools were segregated and colored people were impacted because they did not get the same education as whites did. -

After a young girl name Linda Brown was denied entrance to an all whites school, it was fought. Things eventually changed when people recognized that colored and black children were in fact, not getting the same high quality education as whites. Schools were finally integrated, but many schools still did not and refused to do so despite the court ruling. -
Pyler v Doe
In Texas, children who came to the United States illegally were denied enrollment at schools. It was not fair because education is needed and these children were impacted by it. These children were entitled to protection under the 14th amendment and were eventually able to enroll. -
Cooper V Aaron
This took place in Southern states. Many refused to comply with the Brown v Education decision. They did not want to integrate their schools. The court rejected their appeal and they were made to comply and follow the law. -
Mapp V Ohio
Dollree Mapp's house was searched. Police found material that got her arrested. She was able to fight that, as the police did not have a warrant to do the search in the first place. It was an illegal search and seizure. -
Title v IV
The Higher Education act was for students who did not have the same type of income as others. This helps those lower income students get a post secondary education. The people impacted are those who not have the same resources as more wealthy students. This helps pay for schooling and other types of assistance. -
Education of All Handicapped Children Act
This act impacted students who have physical and mental disabilities. This ensured that they would have equal access to education. It would get the children evaluated and create a plan for their education. -
Goss V Lopez
!0 students in Ohio were suspended for 10 days. They were impacted by this, but there was no due process. They came to the decision and did not investigate it fully, they were simply suspended.
