Labor Sequence

  • Water Breaks

    Amniotic fluid starts to drain from the uterus.

  • Dilated Cervix

    Cervix dilates to 10cm.

  • Transition

    Contractions start to push the baby down.

  • Contractions get closer

    Contractions become more intense and happen more frequently.

  • Crowning

    The mother begins to push as the baby's head is crowning.

  • Episiotomy

    If needed your OBGYN will cut the opening to your vagina to make the delivery easier

  • The Delivery

    The baby comes out and if needed forceps will be used.

  • Umbilical cord is clamped

    Normally the dad would be asked to cut the umbilical cord off of the baby.

  • APGAR Test

    Baby goes to lay with mom then goes through a different test to make sure they have no problems and are healthy.
