Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941 the Japanese launch an attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack kills around 2,400 Marines, Navy, Army and American Civilians. December 11, 1941 Italy and Germany declare war on the United States. It is very important to know that the United States did not declare war first, that is a big misconception. In January, 1942 the United States arrives in Britain. -
Germany invades Stalingrad
Germany decides to turn on Russia, and with the invasion of Stalingrad in August 1942 the tables begin to turn in World War 2. When the Germans get stuck in Stalingrad during the winter of 1943 they have no choice but to surrender in February. -
D-Day Invasion
On June 6, 1944, United States troops invaded France through the beaches of Normandy. The country was controlled by Germany and Hitlers "Atlantic Wall." Around 2,500 Americans died during the invasion of Normandy. -
Surrender and end to World War 2
As American troops start liberating Europe and pushing back the Germans they finally surrender in May, 1945. The Japanese surrender after the United States drop two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki putting an end to World War 2.
