The baby watches faces intently, follows moving objects, recognizes familiar objects and people at a distance, starts using hands and eyes in coordination, smiles at the sound of your voice, begins to babble, begins to imitate some sounds, turns head toward direction of sound. -
Four Months
Baby's at this age have pretty good head control while sitting supported, and they can hold their head and chest upright while lying on their stomach during tummy time. They also can kick and push with their feet. Some babies have even figured out how to roll from tummy to back at this point. -
Five Months
Baby's may make first attempts at sitting up. Baby may get his first tooth. Baby will have better head control and raise his head well when lying down, according to the Mayo Clinic. Brain development: Memory and attention span increase, which builds stronger recognition skills. -
Six Months
Baby's may be starting to sit up alone by six months. To get ready, babies first prop themselves up with their hands, but over time they can start to let go and sit unsupported. Your 6-month-old can probably roll from their back to their stomach and vice versa. -
Seven Months
Baby's will be a lot more active than in months past and will require a lot of hands-on care. They are becoming more mobile, eating more solid foods, and exploring with newfound skills such as crawling. -
Eight Months
Baby's will slowly start to transition to eating more solid foods than breast milk or formula.The biggest development this month is that your infant has more of a pincer grasp, so they are able to pick up food with the pointer finger and thumb. -
Nine Months
Babies are also becoming experts at quickly changing position. They can push up to a crawl position, sit back down, and pivot to pick up a toy. Your little one may even be able to pull to a stand, and may soon start cruising around the room while holding onto furniture. -
Ten months
Baby's is likely to enjoy: Improved motor skills. Most babies this age can sit without help and pull themselves to a standing position. Creeping, crawling and cruising along the furniture will eventually lead to walking. -
