Catherine was originally supposed to be married to Prince Arthur, Henry's brother's, wife, however in order to conquer France, England needed the alliance with Spain from Catherine, so Henry married Catherine in Arthur's place. -

Sir Thomas More is imprisoned for not taking the oath against the Papal community
King Henry VIII made all of England take the oath to prove they were faithful to him and those who did not take it were burnt and crucified. Thomas More was an old friend of Henry's and it seems he imprisoned him to make a point. Thomas More was later beheaded and condemned for not taking the oath. -
