    The French and Indian War
    The war was from 1754 to 1763. They were fighting because the French and British fought for colonial domination in the Carribean, India, and in North America. In the beginning the French were winning due to help from the Native Americans.
    The British won the war and in 1757 they captured Fort Duquesne.

    The Cheif Leader of the Ottawa Tribes' name was Pontiac.
    The war the affected the colonies by causing them to lose more men due to the sieges from Pontiac and his followers/supporters.

    Pontiac's War
    As the French and Indian War came to an end, Native Americans living in former French territory found the new British authorities to be less pacifying than their previous authorities. In 1762, Pontiac got support from nearly every Indian tribe from Lake Superior to lower Mississippi for a joint mission to make the british leave the formerly French lands.
    The new British authorities were much stricter and less pacifying than the former ones and Pontiac didn't like them.

    The Royal Proclaimation of 1763 is a paper written by King George the Third. It forbade settlers rom settling on past the line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.The purpose of it was to establish more peace between settlers and Native Americans. The colonists became very angry because a lot of them had already settled beyond the line that was drawn.

    The sugar act was what the British established to force the colonists to help pay their debt. They had to pay money for the sugar the bought. They passed the law because they were in debt and believed the colonists should help pay their debt. The colonists responded angrily and started getting their sugar illegally for they felt that the british should be more grateful because the colonists helped them win the war.

    The Stamp Act was a law where alll the colonists had to pay a special tax for every piece of printed paper they used. It was used to help raise money to pay the British debt. The colonists weren't happy for they saw this as an attempt from England to have the colonists pay the money without having the colonists leader approval. With the stamp act the colonists just grumbled about it and went along with it. With the Sugar Act they defied that by getting their sugars elsewhere.

    They didn't really fight back but instead just grumbled and bought the stamps until the Virginia House of Burgesses adopted Patrick Henry's Stamp Act Resolves.

    The Quartering Act was of course anotehr law that said that the soldiers from Great Britan would be housed in American barracks and public homes. The purpose was to enable Britan to keep an army in the colonies without having to pay too much as they were in debt. It required the colonists to allow the soldiers to stay in their houses, and to feed the soldiers. The reaction of the colonists was very negative seeing as the were being forced to open their homes to the soldiers.

    The Townshend Acts were named after Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The purpose of it was to raise money in the colonies to pay the judges and governors. The act taxed items the colonists bought like glass, tea, paint, paper and lead. The colonists were angered and Britan feared they might attack so the sent in more men to protect the tax collectors which angered the colonists more causing them to the attack that led into the Boston Massacre.

    The colonists taunted the British. They clubbed them and threw rocks and snowballs, provoking the british to open fire. "Innocent" colonists were killed, including Crispus Attucks, the leader of the mob and a runaway slave. People can call it what they want but i think that massacre shouldn't shouldn't be used for this.

    The Boston Tea Party happened when a group of patriots protested the Tea Act and dumped over 1 million dollars worth of tea in the Boston Harbor. This was a wave of resistance from the American colonists.

    The Stamp act Congress
    The Stamp Act of Congress was held due to the Stamp Act that was passed which was forcing the colonists to help pay the British debt. Lieutenant Governor Colden, Speaker Robert Ogden, and Governor Horatio Sharpe were the key leaders. 9 of the 18 colonies were represented. The Declaration of Rights and Grievances was a document that was created by the Committees of Correspondence stating that taxes put onto british colonists without their formal consent was unconstitutional.

    Britains' General Gage had a plan to send in British soldiers to Lexington to capture the colonial leaders such as Samuel Adams, and John Hancock. They would then go to Concord to seize gunpowder. This was the first serious action that the British took against the colonists.
