The Mayflower lands at Plymouth Rock
The Mayflower landed in Plymouth Rock dock on November 11, 1620. The Mayflower carried the Pilgrims from England to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Where they settled the permanent New England colony in 1620. This was important because they lost in the sea, and they happened upon a land that is now called Cape cod. -
Pennsylvania Becomes a Colony
Pennsylvania became a colony on April 2, 1681 and Pennsylvania was a royal colony as well. Charles 2 gave the land to William Penn and settled a debt of 16 thousand pounds. Which is around 2.1 million dollars in 2008. Penn’s family provided a place for religious freedom for the Quakers. -
The French and Indian War
The French and Indian war started in 1754 and ended in 1763. The reason that led to the war is because of false claims between the lands of the French and British. The war gave the British a lot of benefits in North America, but after agreeing after losing, the money to pay is really big. -
The Sugar Act
The sugar act was passed by the Parliament on April 5, 1764. The purpose of the act was to raise revenue for the British Empire. The goal of the Sugar Act was to reach 100 thousand pound of Sugar. The sugar Act also lowered the workload of the foreign too. Instead of producing six pence per gallon like usual, they lower it to 3 pence per gallon. -
The Currency Act
The currency Act was given by the parliament on September 1, 1764. The government did this to have more control over the colony's currency. The act prohibited the issues of new dollar bills, and forced the use of the existing currency. So of course, the colony protested this act against the government. -
The quartering Act
On march 23, 1765. The government passed the Quartering Act. They outlined parts that British soldiers have to go to. The Quartering Act forced all British soldiers into their military camp. If the colony's camps are too small then the British soldiers will be placed in houses of wine sellers, victualling houses, citizens house, tavern. -
The Townshend Revenue Act
The TownShend Revenue Act was named after Charles Townshed, he is a Chancellor of the Exchequer. He applied taxes to a lot of materials and stuff like glass, paint, paper, tea, lead,... that are imported to the colonies. The Main reason for this act was to raise revenue for the British Empire. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre started on March 5 1770. A street fight, a patriot mob throwing rocks, snowballs, stones, sticks, anything they can grab like children fight, they were throwing those against a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed during the massacre. A lot of Speech writers also write about this. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party after a group of more than 20 people from Massachusetts colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians and board 3 British boats, and dump 342 chests that contain tea into the harbor. The main reason for this was a protest about the angry British soldiers who imposed taxation without representation. -
The Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress started in May 1775 and ended in 1775. The second continental congress brought all the important government people from 13 colonies. All of them were brought up soon after the American revolutionary war. The reason for the second continental congress was to assume the roles for all of the 13 colonies' government people. -
The First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress brought all the government officials in the US from September 5 to October 17, 1774. The conversation was discussing removing all the British goods like lumber, wool, iron, … The reason behind it was to give the rights to the Americans, and planned for the second Continental Congress. -
Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or give me Death” speech
The speech “give me liberty or give me death speech” was from Patrick Henry on March 23. 1775. Henry was arguing that militia, which is an army organization, should organize and armed to defend themselves from Great Britain. The reason that he made the speech was to tell the people from Virginia to use his logo against the British Oppression. -
The Ride of Paul Revere
The ride of Paul Revere was referenced to a person who called Paul, but a British army warned the riders. Because of that, the riders prepared to fight against the British Army for freedom. Paul was serving in the American Army at that time, and people made a poem about the event. -
George Washington named Commander in Chief
In the Continental Congress, where they brought up all the important government people. They commissioned George Washington as a Commander in chief. The reason that he got chosen instead of other candidates is because he has experience in those wars before, so they believed that he could help Virginia unite the armies.
