  • Agricultural society

    Most people spent time on te land that they worked on however they never really had any free time to play any sort of sport. the agriculture work was dictated by the season which meant that workers had to prepare for the unexpected.
  • Industrial Revolution

    when the industrial revolution hit it meant that workers had to work extra hours. This meant that people would have to sty on their working land for a lot longer to get the extra work done which effcted the chances of people getting any sort of freee time to participate in sport.
  • Influence of public schools

    If your child was attending a public school it meant that they would be getting a recommended amout of sport each day as sport was very popular and well organised as the schools had top class facilities to use. the schools were exclusive to say the least and were available to the upper class families. from the year 1850 and onwards sports in schools really developed quickly as students had a huge amount of free time. some of the sports that developed quickly were rugby, tennis an cricket.
  • impact of better/changed working hours

    this had helped workers do a little bit of sport as the hours were cut down and it gave workers sight bit of free time each day were they could play a game of football. the hours may be early in the morning which meant they woudd gt a break around lunhtime to do what they wantand meet up on the land.
  • Saturday half day

    This is a major factor when it comes to the development of sport as it provided workers with a half day on a Saturday which meant that once the workers finished their work they had more time to participate in sporting activates this had a huge effect because by the end of the 19th century workers had more time to participate in sport. Since most of the wokers had a poor living it took sport a while to develop. factory owners knew that a happy worker would help so they encouraged sports clubs.
  • 600 AD- 1600 AD

    Mexico and central America created a ball made out of rubber and they used it on a court which was 40-50 feet long.
  • 700's

    The first football gmes played in Britain were played by the locals of England. This all startd after a "legendary" game that involved kicking around the severed head of a prince in who they defeated at war.these games were violent where injury and even death were not uncommon during this time.

    The first ever description of a live football game was described by a man who went by the name of William Fitzstephen.

    Due to high demands and the popularity of the sport King Edward III of England to pass law to ban the playing of the game.

    The game was also banned by fellow King James I of Scotland

    Queen Elizabeth I of England introduced laws that could sentence a football plyer to jail for a week hich would be followed by a penance in a church for playing the sport.

    Eton College of England decided that they would established their own set of rules for football.

    Football was played in America by the North-eastern universities such as Harvard, Princeton Amherst and Brown.

    Freshman and Sophomore classes at Harvard had instituted a annual football tournament n the first Monday of the new school year. Gams were often quite rowdy as the event was known as "bloody Monday"

    Due to the demand of football being so popular back home in England there was the first ever club to be formed outside of the United Kingdom and taht team was called Oneida FC and they were formed in Boston America.

    Football in England were taking things to a whole new level when they formed the football association now known as the FA on the 26th October 1863. Later on 11 London schools and clubs came together to establish a set of rules that would be useful in the upcoming matches.

    6 years after the football association was formed the FA decided to further amend the rules by excluding outfield players from handling the ball.

    A historic day in the FA was when the first ever FA cup final was played at the London Oval cricket ground were the Wonderers in who was a team made up of public schools and university players, this was also the first ever knockout tournament in the world.

    Four British associations agreed on making a uniformed code which would see an international FA board.

    The first ever international football match outside of the United Kingdom was contested between the USA and Canada.

    The football association decided that it was time to start training match officials to become proper referees and also this was the very first meeting between the international football association board.

    The English league was formed which made it the first ever league in the history of football which was a big deal because it meant that football was getting more popular and competitive.

    After the first season of the English league a team called Preston North End won both the league and the FA cup in a historical double.

    Football goals were evented by Liverpool and they were then first put to use in a game in 1891 and just a year after they were first used they were then used for the 1892 FA cup final between West Brom Albion and Aston Villa and the kenningtown Oval which seen Aton Villa come out as 3-o winners on the day.

    A new football company was established by the name of FIFA. This new company in football was made from delegates from France, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and finally Switzerland. This meeting was held in Paris France on May 21st.

    The debut of football came at the 1908 Olympics which took place in London with 8 teams entering and the hosts Great Britain won the Gold medal while Denmark took the silver and the bronze medal went to the Netherlands.

    History was made yet again when FIFA decided that they were going to have the first ever world cup in which 13 teams participated, which was held in Montevideo Uruguay.

    The FA cup was televised for the very first time and the live coverage was broadcasted by BBC, the final was contested between Preston North End and Huddersfield Town. Preston North End won the game 1-0.

    UEFA was later formed on the 15th June 1954.

    The European cup took place for the very first time which was made up of the best teams around Europe. The final was held in Paris France with Spanish Giants Real Madrid taking on French side Stade Reims, Real Madrid won the competition on a score line of 4-3 on the night crowning them the first ever European cup winners.

    This was the first time since the invention of the world cup that it would be broadcasted live for viewers to watch at home. the tournament was broadcasted on BBC.

The championships were held in France and the final was contested between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union.     this was the year that the premier league was founded which would feature 20 teams from England. The premier league developed from the original football league. The objective is to separate the leagues by different standards and quality within the teams.

    Zinedine Zidane became the first ever £40 million pound played when Real Madrid paid £46 million pounds from Italian giants Juventus.

    Cristiano Ronaldo broke the record currently set by the £40-million-pound player Zinedine Zidane when he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid for a fee of £80 million.

    the Fifa world cup in 2010 was the very first world cup to be held in Africa with South Africa being hosts to the competition. The final was played out between European champions Spain and Holland the game ended 1-0 to Spain after extra time declaring them champions of the world.

    Spain made footballing history when the won the Euros in 2012 after beating Italy in the final of a score of 4-0. Spain became the first ever country to win back to back European Championships and hold the Fifa world cup at the same time.

    Manchester United broke the transfer record by signing their former player back from Juventus for a fee of £93 million pounds. Paul Pogba left Manchester united for free due to a lack of game time buy that did not stop his former club from bringing him back home.
