Louis calls the Estates-General
King Louis calls for the first meeting of the Estates-General in 175 years. The third estate was not happy with the formation of 3 separate chambers because the first and second estate would always agree with each other and the third estate would lose. -
Tennis Court Oath
When the third estate was locked out of the Estates-General, they gathered on a tennis court and took an oath that said "not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established" -
Storming of Bastille
A mob of people storm the prison to gain gunpoweder for their guns. They hacked guards to death and tore down the prison. -
March to Versailles
A group led by women marched from Paris to Versailles because of the high prices of food, more specifically bread. -
Louis' Trial
Louis was officially arrested on august 13th, on september 21st the national assembally said France was a republic and abolished the monarchy. Louis was found guilty on his trial and was beheaded on january 21st, 1793 -
Attacks on Prisons
Without any military to protect the jails, the people of Paris stormed the prisons and killed all of the upper class people in them. -
The Terror
The reign of terror was a stretch in the French Revolution when people were beheaded if they spoke ill of the revolution or held anything against what people are doing. -
Robespierre Killed
Maximilien Robespierre was beheaded on 28th of July without trial. He was the main voice of the revolutionaries.
