I loved going to the Winn Dixie with my mother so I could play QBert. The machine was brand new that winter, and I would stand on a stool and play.

I remember my mother gave my older brother and myself an Atari when we moved to Wheeling, West Virginia in 1984. The only time I had seen a video game before was the stand alone QBert in the Winn Dixie in Mobile. My favorite game was frogger, and I'm still really good at it.

I remember my father being really excited about this home computer. It was the first computer we ever purchased, and he snagged it as soon as it came out. He kept the finances using Quicken. It was in the recreation room of our home, and if we were good we could play games on it.

Typewriter class
I don't know why photos of typing classes are always in black and white. Maybe it's because I was educated in a West Virginia public school, but I had a typing class on manual typewriters my senior year of high school. We didn't have a computer class at my school, and I didn't use a keyboard except for the one on the computer in the basement.

Brother SX-4000 Typewriter
My first typewriter! When I went to The Ohio State University in the fall of 1994, my parents gifted me this electronic typewriter. I loved it because the words would display on the screen before they imprinted on the paper.

I vaguely remember entering the computer lab in the basement of The Ohio State University library as a Freshman. I remember having the student monitor help me get on the computer and explore the World Wide Web and explore the other services available.

Apple MacBook
When I came to Kanawha County Schools in 2014, they gave me a MacBook and an iPad. They sat under my desk for a year, untouched. Then I opened them. Wow. What fun!
