Mission trip to Haiti
This event humbled me and impacted my view on first world privilege. This was my first experience out of the country and in an environment where basic necessities were not available to everyone. This trip continues to inspire me to serve others in my community and take advantage of opportunities to give time and resources to people in need -

McCrory was the first Republican Governor in North Carolina to be elected in 20 years. -

Decided on Career Path
I completed my high school Senior Exit Project in which I created a product that contributed to the community and gave a presentation to a board of judges. Through this project, I discovered and learned about Occupational Therapy and built a "sensory board" for a local OT facility. I really enjoyed what I observed at the facility and decided OT was the profession I wanted to pursue. -

Started school at NC State
I began freshman year at NCSU- I made lots of friends, adjusted studying habits to college life, joined my sorority, and got involved in college level extracurriculars. -
NC- Duke Energy pays $102 million for coal ash spill
Previous year's coal ash spill into NC river resulted in widespread pollution. Duke Energy paid $102 in environmental violation fines. -
US- Same sex marriage legalized in US
Marriage between same sex couples was declared legal across the United States and is no longer left to the discretion of the state governments. -
Assumed leadership role in Sigma Kappa
This is the first time I applied and was voted into a leadership role in my sorority. This is significant because it would lead to two additional leadership roles, one as the president of the organization. This event marks my initiative to get involved and develop personally through my membership in Sigma Kappa. -

Moved into 6 Dixie Trail
This marks the first time I lived in a house since coming to college. I had my own room and shared a shower with one other person- a big change from a residence hall style life. I moved in with three of my best friends and we are now able to eat, play, study, and laugh together under the same roof. The location is prime for walking to campus and businesses on Hillsborough. I am so thankful I get to live and spend time with my current roommates on Dixie -
