Largely due to the efforts of 20 young people with disabilities (the West Virginia Youth Disability Caucus), West Virginia becomes the first state to require that the history of the disability rights movement be taught in schools grades K-12. -
Rosa's Law Enacted
President Barack Obama signs legislation that replaces the term "mental retardation" with the term "intellectual disability." Law is named for 9-year old Rosa Marcellino, a young advocate with Down syndrome. -
Sarah and some odd diagnoses
Get told by therapist I exhibit symptoms of autism spectrum. There is no followup as therapist gets pregnant and cuts ties with their job.
Work on improving my own communications and professionalism, and start a gaming club on campus so I will have more friends to game with. -
Sarah Diagnosed with ADD
Getting more consistent help and an ADD evaluation. Adderall is REALLY helpful in getting me to focus in online classes. Also, I put way more time into playing Minecraft.
