  • Battle of the Atlantic

    Battle of the Atlantic
    The Battle of Atlantic was the longest campaign of the Second World War and Canada played a major role in this battle. Canada is best rembered for their great deeds of shipping personnel of the Royal Canadian Navy across the globe. Their tremendous effort was crucial in contributing to their Alied victory.
  • Battle of Netherlands

    Battle of Netherlands
    In this battle, the First Canadian Army helped free the Netherlands. Canada was responsible for bringing and distributing desperately needed food supplies to civilians. Canadians were looked at not only as people who kept the peace, but as saviors as well. The Dutch people then sent tens and thousands of tulips (the Dutch national flower) over to Canada as a sign of appreciation. The dontations continue to be an anual tradation.
  • Most Significant Battle

    I believe that the Battle of Netherlands was the most significant battle out of all of them and had the greatest contribution to Canada's growing independance. In this battle Canaidans acted as saviors and peace keepers to the Dutch and made such a tremendous impact on them that they continue to show actions of gratitude today by sending tulips.
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    Battle of Dunkirk
    Canadians participated in actions near the port as part of an overall battle to clear the Channel Ports. They fought for a short period of time in hopes of capturing the port, but were mostly unsuccessful.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    Canada took a powerful role in the Battle of Britain by helping defend against the Germans attack. Hundreds of fighter pilots tried to stand in the way of Hitlers attack including 100 Canadians.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    Battle of Hong Kong
    In the Battle of Hong Kong, the Royal Rifles of Canada and the Winnipeg Grenadiers helped fight and defend the Crown Colony. The fighting in this violent battle left 208 Canadians killed, and 493 wounded. There are many Canadian war graves in Hong Kong today to comemorate the soldiers who died in this battle.
  • Battle of Dieppe

    Battle of Dieppe
    For Canadians, the Battle of Dieppe was a disaster. Canada had over 4963 soldiers involded in the raid. Nearly 1000 Canadians died and almost 2000 were taken prisoner. They were the major attacking force along with Brittish, US, and French forces. This battle was a tremendous faillure for Canadians and many lost their lives.
  • Italian Campaign

    Italian Campaign
    The Italian Campaign was Canada's first land operation of the war. Canadian troops worked with the Allies to help capture Sicily in a five-week campaign. They started in the south, then continued to make their way up the mainland. They invaded the mainland and Italy soon surrendered. The battle of Ortona soon followed.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    On D-Day, Canadian soldiers were given the role to begin the liberation of Europe from Nazi-Germany. Canada was the only one to acheieve their goals and went the farthest into France.
