    The 2013 hunting season in Wisconsin will under take many changes and have many new updates. As a committee want to focus on the Research, Health, Elk and Law enforcement. Research was started in 2010, aided with Stevens Point. There were 1000 deer captured during the late winter. We will also be focusing on the CWD outbreak. There is an 185 estimated hear of Elk, should be more female calf during the spring of 2013. After new warden hiring, we started accepting new candidates for next class.

    The DNR will be going over the Deer certificates, over 1000 certificates for first deer.
    The antler less quota will be finalized and set "In stone". Total of 342,000 deer harvested in 2013. There was a harsh number of deer with developed antlers in 2013. The disabled hunt started in 91, will be taking place in 2013.
    Chronic wasting disease has affected many adult bucks in the 2013 year.There will be a new area added for Elk. Trying to get a number of elk moved from Kentucky.

    Our mission, DNR, is to represent the people of Wisconsin and the concert for the hunters.
    Deer baiting is illegal and banned throughout Wisconsin. Deer and Elk populations have increased over time.
    Some members believe that this should be played out. But other members believe and have expressed their concern for the baiting.
    Baiting of the deer can spread diseases and is a major cause of deer deaths. Without baiting, deer hunting leads to more fun and more challenging.

    Deer antlers are falling, deer tags should be increased do to the deer with no antlers.
    Farmland deer tags were free and should remain free.
    On the down side, the public land tags can go anywhere, farmland deer are being harmed and taken away from the property owners. Each hunter should be given either one or two tags for antler less deer.
    Along with that, the tags should be restricted to a specific area in which they can use the tag.
  • Mead Wildlife Area Visitor Center

    The 2014 deer season coming to and end and need to be gone over again.
    Conservation Congress will convene at 9 am on Saturday and the Mead Wildlife Area.
    CDAC's and the 2015 quota, and permit setting. Children need to have antler less permits for themselves. They cannot hunt unless they have their own tags.
    There will also be a discussion on the map of where to hunt, for those who were not here last time. Another update on the Elk and the Law enforcement.
