Joseph Stalin was born on December 21, 1879 to a poor family in Gori, Georgia. His father was a cobbler and his mother was a laundress. Joseph Stalin's birth was significant because he went on to became the dictator of the Soviet Union. Stalin gets in to Gori Church School
During the fall of 1888, Joseph Stalin begins studying at Gori Church School. He learned his native language Georgian at home by his mother, and had to speak and learn Russian at school. This event is significant because this is when Stalin starts his basic eductaion. X-rays were discovered by a German Physicist
X- rays were discovered by a German Physicist named Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895. While Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen was doing an experiment with electron beams in a gas discharge tube, he discovered x-rays. X-rays being discovered is a significant world event becauae it is one of the most important discoveries in medical history. X-rays allow doctors to examine broken bones, tissues and cavities. Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Company
On January 1895 Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company. After some trial and errors, Henry Ford introduced a car known as the Model T. The significance of this event is that by 1918 half of the cars in the United States were Model T's. The Ford Motor Company invented simple, efficient, and cheap to repair cars. The first Nobel Prize is awarded
In 1901 the first Nobel Prize was awarded to Henry Dunant for starting the International Committe of the Red Cross. The Nobel Prize was started by Alfred Nobel to honor men and women for their achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and for work in peace. The significance of this event is that the Nobel Prize gives people a chance to be honored for outstanding and breakthrough achievements. The first noble prize was significant in the medical field, by forming the Red Cross. -
Stalin joins the Bolsheviks
On the December of 1903, Stalin joined the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks are a political group formed by Vladimir Lenin who believe in the ideas of Karl Marx. The significance of Stalin joining the Bolsheviks is that he eventually becomes a powerful force for the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks also eventually go on to become the communist party. After Lenin dies, Stalin becomes the leader of the Bolsheviks, and has control over power.

Wright brothers first flight
On December 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers's airplane first arose from the ground, as the first airplane ever to fly. The Wright brothers first flight was significant to world history because it started the history of the airplane. Military aircrafts were also a huge part of World War I and World War II. Because of the Wright brothers first flight, the airplane makes worldwide travel and exploration easier.

Lenin names Stalin Commissar of Nationalities
On the November of 1917, Lenin declared Stalin the Commissar of Nationalities. Stalin earned that title for his contribution in the October Revolution. This event is significant because it shows that Stalin started to climb the ladder of power in the communist party. This also gives Stalin the responsibility of millions of non-Russians living under the Tsar.

Stalin becomes the General Secretary of the Communist Party
Stalin became the General Secretary of the Communist Party in 1922. Stalin becomes responsible for placing others in specific jobs, and has complete power. Stalin becoming the General Secretary of the Communist Party is significant because it lets Stalin learn that controlling people is important to gain power. Also Stalin has climbed the ladder of power in the Communist Power, and now has complete power.

Stalin's five year plan begins
Stalin's five year blan begins for the Soviet Union in 1928. Stalin wants to industrialize the Soviet Union from a peasant society into an industrial Union. This event is significant becasue Stalin plans to transform the Soviet Union completely into an industrial Union by, seizing farms, and factories for agriculture. The Great Depression which started from October, 1929 was a huge tragedy that involved millions of Americans getting unemployed. The Great Depression was started by the day the stock market crashed. The Great Depression was significant in world history because it was one of the worst times for people to live in the United States. The Marshall Plan's aid is rejected by Stalin
On June 1947 the Marshall Plan was rejected by Stalin. The Marshall Plan enacted to give support to Europe after being devastated in World War II. The Significance of this event is that Stalin rejected the Marshall Plan because he thinks it will help Germany and the United States as well. So Stalin rejects the Plan so the United States and Great Britain won't be ahead of the Soviet Union.

Mahatama Gandhi Dies
On January 30, 1948, Mahatama Gandhi was murdered by a Hindu nationalist, Nathuram Godse. He shot Ghandi three times as Gandhi was entering a meeting for prayer. The significance of Gandhi's death was that India lost their strongest influence on peace. Gandhi had been India's leader for independence and peace for many years. He protested British rule on India by using no violence.

Stalin gives permission for North Korea to invade South Korea
In 1950 Stalin gave permission for North Korea to invade South Korea. This event is significant because it starts the Korean War, between North and South Korea. Since the United States is a supporter of South Korea, the United States also gets involved in the Korean War. This causes the United States to spend time and money in the Korean War.

On March 5, 1953 Joseph Stalin died at age 74 due to a stroke after already being in poor health. Stalin's body was preserved and was put right next to Lenin's body in the mausoleum in Red Square, Moscow. Stalin's death is significant because it ends the powerful time period of the Soviet Union. Also the Soviet Union doesn't industrialize much after Stalin.
