Tennis Court Oath
Where deputies of the Third Estate, who were locked out of the meeting of the Estates-General, signed an oath declaring that political authority should come from the people and not the monarchy. -
Storming of the Bastille
First victory of the revolution from the people. Rioting about their rights and used the act of violence to show power. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man
This document stated that all men are truely equal which increased freedom for the the people and established a constitutional monarchy. -
March to Versailles
20,000 women crowded outside the palace of Versailles because of their high taxes and lack of bread. The women broke into the palace with severe murder threats in mind. They all demanded that the king and queen leave and move to Paris. -
Louis' Trial
Louis was tried for abandoning his country and was sentenced to death. This ended the king's reign and another huge victory for the revolution. -
Robespierre Comes to Power
Known as the Incoruptable when he came to power. Mostly responsible for The Terror and the execution of King Louis. -
The Terror
When revolutionaries suspended the Declaration of the Rights of Man. Any suspition of betrayal called for a quick trial which usually lead to execution. -
Robespierre Killed
Robespierre started acting more like a God with his power and started to be thought of as crazy. When he was under arrest he attempted suicide but failed. People came to the realization that the death of Robespierre would result in the end of The Terror.
