On good Friday April 14, 1865 while Lincoln is at Ford theater watching a play, John Wilkes Booth sneaks up and shoots Lincoln in the head. After this Booth breaks his leg by jumping out of the President's box and exiting the buildin shouting "Sic Semper Tyranis" (so it is always with tyrants) -

Booth is tracked down to the garret's farm(12 days after the murder) and is killed because of the murder he commited against President Lincoln.
