    Mysterious Cosmographicum
Mysterious Cosmographicum was Kepler’s entry into the astronomical world. He had an epiphany at age 24 about Saturn and Jupiter and their geometrical relevance to the Zodiac. At the time, he believed that God had shown him the universe through mathematics. This was a result of his religious beliefs, and that science and religion worked hand in hand, and that one could not exist without the other, going as far as to say that the universe was created in the image of the holy trinity.

In approximately 1602, Kepler observed that Mars did not in fact rotate around the sun in a circular fashion. He further theorized that planetary speed was related to the “power” of the Sun’s soul. Following this, he came to the conclusion that the farther away the planet was, the faster it moved as it had less of a gravitation pull, yet while closer, it slowed down.
