    The book Uncle Tom’s Cabin is published
    Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom, this book is written about a slave who was torn from his family and he escapes from a plantation with a friend whos is also a slave. People who read the book saw a different side of slavery and many wanted it to end. This caused many conflicts and is one of the causes of the Civil War.
  • Abraham Lincoln is elected President.

    Abraham Lincoln is elected President.
    Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th president of the United States. He won with all the free states not the slave states too, which means he won the vote with the Democratic party on his side.

    The battle of fredericksburg is when union started to build pontoon bridges, the confederates were still dug into the hills past the city and on december 13 the general of the union thought it would be a good idea to attack head on.

    Abraham Lincoln was at a play in a presidential box with his wife. When the play got to a comedic part and the audience laughed loudly, John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln died the next day. John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln because he thought the south was going to lose the Civil War.

    The 13th amendment declared that slavery was illegal. Abraham Lincoln realized that the Emancipation Proclamation must be followed by a constitutional amendment to confirm the end of slavery. The 13th amendment was passed once the Civil War was over.
