Plane Crash
On Thursday, August 25th, 1994 around 3:00 pm Eastern time, Jimmy Buffett crashed his Grumman G-44 Widgeon, N1471N, while attempting to takeoff in the waters off Nantucket, Massachusetts. The airplane nosed over, and Jimmy was able to swim to safety, sustaining only minor injuries.
Buffett credits his survival to Navy Survival Training he had to complete before being able to ride in an F-14 Tomcat from the deck of an aircraft carrier. -

Plane gets shot
On January 16, 1996, Jimmy Buffett’s Grumman HU-16 Albatross, dubbed the Hemisphere Dancer, was shot at by Jamaican authorities as he taxied in the waters near Negril.
The Jamaicans had mistaken it for a drug-runner’s plane, though Jimmy had “only come for chicken.” On board the plane was Chris Blackwell from Island Records and U2′s Bono and his family. -

On February 4th, 2001, Jimmy Buffett was ejected from the American Airlines Arena in Miami during a Heat / Knicks NBA basketball game for cursing at referee Joe Forte, who didn’t even know who he was. -

2011 Fin Land Tour
The 2011 Welcome to Fin Land Tour, named for the song “Fins” and the country “Finland,” will see Jimmy and the band make a number of stops all across the country. January brought Jimmy back to Australia for the first time since 1988. Among the usual stops of the “Welcome to Fin Land” tour there will be returns to West Palm Beach, FL for the first time since November 14, 2006 and Kansas City, Missouri for the first time since May 3, 1997.
