    The Incas settle in Cuzco, Peru. It was the first of the Incas settlements.It becomes the capital of their empire.

    Aztecs Found Tenochitlan
    The Aztecs founded Tenochitlan, the capital of their empire. They founded Tenochitlan because of an omen they recieved of an eagle perched on a cactus eating a snake. They took this omen to mean that they were to move to an unpleasant, buugy mess and settle. They later turned this into a central agency of conquest, with thier military power and political abilities.

    Columbus had origanially been sailing for the East Indies. He did not know that it was a new continent. It was only after his death that it was discovered as a new continent.

    The Inca's expanded their empire until it stretched nearly 2,500 from north to south. They created this empire through conquests and wars, but also through agreements with other kingdoms. It turned out to be the largest Empire in Pre-Columbian America.

    From 1502 to 1504 Columbus made his last voyage to the New World. He was accompanied on his last voyage by his step-brother and thirteen year old son. He had made four voyages in total to the New World.

    The smallpox was brought by the Europeans to the Americas. The epidemic wipe out many native populations. They natives were not immune to the smallpox and many of them died.

    The Aztec Emperor Moctizuma heard of the Spaniards that were in his land. He invited them to a meeting so that he with his large army could overtake the smaller Spanish army. Unknown to the Aztecs, was they the Spanish had better weapons and the art of suprise attacking. The Aztecs came without weapons, and when the Spanish ambused them, their horses and loud guns scared the Aztecs who ran in fear, allowing the Spanish to get amoung them and kill them.

    The Aztec Empire falls to Spanish forces. Cuauhetemoc surrenders to Cortez. The capital of New Spain was then built on the ruins of Tenochitlan.

    The Inca Empire had been destroyed by a smallpox epidemic and civil war. The Inca Emperor, Atahualpa, was captured by Fransisco Pizarro. The Empire was conquered by Pizarro and Atahualpa was hanged.

    The Spanish conqueror Pizarro found Lima, Peru. He called it Cuidad de los Reyes, which meant 'City of the Kings'. He then destoyed the Inca capital of Cuzco, Peru.

    Hernando De Soto explores Mississippi River
    Hernando De Soto was the first to lead a European expedition to reach the Mississippi River. He crossed the Mississippi and described it as swift and deep. De Soto died, and was buried on the Mississippi River bank.
  • Summary

    I chose the events that I did because they seemed interesting to me. I really liked the events about the Aztecs and Incas because I like learning about the conquestadors and the Native Americans in South America. I also liked the events about the Black Death and Smallpox because I like learning about how it affected the peoples lives when these sicknesses hit.
