Jenna's Life

  • I Killed My Fish

    I Killed My Fish
My family and I decided to go to the Danbury Fair. As we walked around I spotted a tent that had goldfish as the prize. I pulled my mom towards it begging for her to let me try and win one. She told me I would have to take care of it if I won and I agreed. After only two tries I had won a goldfish. I was beyond happy to have my first pet that I won myself. After about 3 weeks I could't remember the last time I fed it. I walked over to the tank and saw it floating at the surface. I was very upset.
  • Throwing Up in Front of My Whole Class

Throwing Up in Front of My Whole Class
In the second grade, my teacher told my class that we were going outside to take pictures for our scrapbook. Our mission was to find a bunch of fallen leaves. I ran out the door and immediately started picking them up. Suddenly I felt an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I went to pick up another leaf and there it was. Throw up appeared every where. I turned around and the whole class was staring at me. I remember going home being super upset that I couldn't finish that section in my scrapbook.
  • Getting My Appendix Removed

    Getting My Appendix Removed
When I was around 10 years old I was prone to having very severe stomach aches. One night it got to the point where the pain was unbearable so my mom and I rushed to the hospital. They told me I had to get a CAT scan. Once I got my results back I was told that I had to get my appendix removed. Throughout the next couple hours my parents had a tough time seeing me in so much pain. Unlike them I was glad the doctors found it when they did and I wouldn't have to endure any more stomach pains.
  • Getting My Dog

    Getting My Dog
My parents told my sister and I that they were taking us somewhere but didn't tell us where. We quickly got into the car to see what our surprise was. After over an hour of driving we turned onto a rocky road, I could see a farm in the distance. They told us we were here to get a jack russell puppy. We entered the house and were greeted by 8 jack russell puppies and we got to choose which one we wanted. We both chose the same one so we had to take him home.During the car ride home we named him Sonny.
  • Getting my Back Handspring

    Getting my Back Handspring
I've had the goal of getting a back handspring for over a year and I was ready to finally get it. It was important for me to have it for cheer. I signed into my gym and was determined that today was the day. I warmed up and after only doing it a couple times with a spot I felt confident that I could do it by myself. I swung my arms and threw myself backwards hoping I would land perfectly on my feet. And that is exactly what I did. The moment that I had been waiting for. My hard work had paid off.
  • Making the Cheer Team in 8th Grade

Making the Cheer Team in 8th Grade
When cheerleading became a sport I was the first to tryout for the varsity team in 8th grade. I went to every practice to learn the cheer and dance for tryouts. I worked on my skills to get them to be the best they could be. After a week of preparation the day of tryouts came. I got called into the gym and performed as best as I could. Two days later I received an envelope congratulating me on making the team. I was really proud of myself and I was excited to embark on this new journey.
  • Not Making the All Section Cheerleading Team

Not Making the All Section Cheerleading Team
Every year at cheer camp there is an optional tryout to make the All Section Team. The whole week I tried my hardest to improve my skills; including jumps, tumbling and stunting. The last day of camp arrived and I was ready to perform for the judges. I did my best jumps, my best tumbling and my best stunt but, that wasn't enough. I received my results not too long after performing and was pretty upset with the news. What I thought to myself next was what could I do to make the team next year.
  • Becoming Captain

    Becoming Captain
At the end of the season our team got together to pick the new captains. I had been wanting to be captain ever since i began cheering. Each girl wrote the name of who they wanted to be captain. My coach collected all the papers and started totaling up the results. We all sat eagerly and waited for her to announce who got the lucky spot. The first name she announced was me. In this moment I had never been more proud of myself.I was so happy that others saw the potential in me to be a great leader.
  • Getting My First Job

    Getting My First Job
Towards the end of the school year I realized that I needed money if I wanted to do fun things with my friends over the summer. I took it upon myself to find places around me that were hiring. Once I found a place I was familiar with I asked my mom if she could take me there so I could have an interview. After I met the owner and went through the whole process, I got the job. I was a cashier and I stocked the shelves. This job taught me a lot of different things that I hadn't experienced before.
  • My First Paycheck

    My First Paycheck
After working at my new job for two weeks I finally got my first paycheck. This was what I had been waiting for. Of course I wanted to spend it all on clothes and other cool things, which was why I wanted the job to begin with. But I thought it would be more beneficial if I started saving. Pretty soon I would have to pay for a car and for college, two pretty expensive things. Although I wanted to buy things I wanted, I had to think logically and save my money for more important things.
  • I Sprained My Foot

    I Sprained My Foot
One day at cheer practice, my group and I were trying a new stunt. My coach instructed us on what to do so we were feeling confident that we would execute it pretty well. We did in fact execute the stunt well but when we were coming down I slipped out of their grip and slammed to the floor. My foot was instantly filled with pain. I went to the doctor the next day to get x-rays and they told me I had sprained it. This was very bad news, I would have to sit out at practice for 2 whole weeks.
