Roman Empire begins
27 BC: Seventeen years after the assasination of Julius Caesar. Augustus became the new leader. Which his real name was Octavius. He made his name Augustus because it means "The First Emperor". -
Julius Caesar is assassinated
44 BC: A year after Julius Caesar became the dictator of Rome. He is then assassinated by the idea of Brutus. They hoped to bring the republic back into power. Instead of bringing the republic back into power. A civil war ensued instead. -
Julius Caesar becomes the first dictator of Rome
45 BC: Julius Caesar defeats Pompey in a civil war. He also became the supreme ruler of Rome. Resulting in Caesar being the first dictator. The Republic of Rome is no more. -
Much of Rome burns
64: The Emperor Nero set fire to most of Rome. He blamed it on the Christians though. He purposely sent out men to set fire to the city. It is said that Nero played an instrument while Rome burned. That suggested to citizens that he didn't care. -
Colosseum is built
80 AD: The Great Coliseum of Rome. Which it is one of the great landmarks of Rome. When it was finished being built in 80 AD. The Coliseum was celebrated with 100 days of games inside the stadium.
