The Industrial Era
The Industrial Era started in the 18th and 19th centries where Europe and America became urban. Before there was just hand tools or basic machines used in peoples homes until the Industrial Era came along. Many machines were invented becoming the most important item needed such as a steam engine producing mcuh more help with transportation, communication, and transportation. -
The Imperialism Era
Imperialism in other words is known as "empire." Imperialism is also the economic, military, and culturalinfluence of the United States on other countries. The U.S sought to intervine in foriegn places such as Hawaii and Latin America if the government was deemed unfit to rule itself. Now the American government holds power to both Hawaii and Latin America to criticize and occupy them if they were unstable. -
The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was the era when many Americans stood up a fight to outlaw alcohol sales, regulate child labor and sweatshops and eliminate corruption in the government. This was also the Era where many immigrants came over to America but resulting in bring many diseases leading Americans to either Americanize them or restrict immigration. Pogressives enacted minimum wage laws for working women and sought to replace corrupt machines and other things to make everything fair and better. -
The Roaring Twenties
The Era where the social and political personality of America changed. The era where cities were becoming more populated than farms. The Roaring Twenties where everyone was buying and women chaning their looks dramatically and the way they act as well. This era was big for women, they started becoming "free." Being able to vote an dress and act the way they wanted. Passing the 19th Amendment, where women were able to vote became a huge deal. -
The Great Depression
The Great Depression began after the stock market crashed resulting in wiping out millions of investors. Many were unemployed and laid off. A couple of years into the Great Depression and it definately took its toll leaving about 13 to 15 millionAmericans unemployed. Families weren't able to take care of their wife and kids making them reach a descion to send their kids away to welthy family members or kids running away from homes feeling like a burden to their parents becuase they were poor. -
World War II
World War II was the war that had so many things going on at the time. With more than thirty countries involved in the war concluding to more than fifty million military and civilian deaths and the invasion of Hitler. Adolf Hitler invaded all over Germany and other countries killing Jews during World War II. The biggest enimies in the Worl War was not only Nazi Germany, but also Japan for the reason of the Pearl Harbor bombing which was the main why World War II had begun. -
The Cold War
The Cold War was the event that developed from a rivalry between the U.S and the Soviets. The Cold War was intended to take over affairs that happened long ago but with doing so, it created many crises. Such as, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Hungary, and the Berlin Wall. Many disagreements occured leading up to communism vs. capitalism and many more beliefs and ideology clashed with different opinions. -
The Fifities
The Fifties Era would be just about the brightest and most booming era in American history. It was an Era of great fashion, new cars, suburban living and homes, and the economy was great. Teemagers having more free time with their cars, rock and roll was created and very popular, and people had just about anything they wanted when it came to material items for the home such as washing machines and television. -
Vietnam
The Vietnam War was a war within its own country with North Vietnam (communist) against South Vietnam aslo known as, Viet Cong. The war was long and dangerous with the United States allied with South Vietnam. As the war grew increasingly unpopular at home, it ened with the withdrawl of U.S forces and more than three million people dead including 58,000 Americans dead as well. -
Civil Rights Era
Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcom X, Andrew Goodman and many other made history by standing up for what they believed in when it came to segregation creating the Civil Rights Era. Segregated schools, bathrooms, movie theaters and many others. The African American race has been treated unfairly in America resulting in many protest and boycotts such as the event with Rosa Parks and the bus and speeches such as MLK.
