    Ivan's father dies when Ivan is only three years old. Since Ivan is to young to lead, his mother rules for him as regent.

    Elena Glinskaya dies

    When Ivan was 8 years old his mother died. Ivan was not yet old enough to rule so nobles disputed her rule.

    Ivan becomes Tsar

    Ivan was crowned Tsar at 16 years old.

    Anastasia's death

    In 1560, Ivan's first wife died. His behavior became very erratic after her death. Ivan blamed the boyar class for what had happened saying that they poisoned her.

    Ivan and his son got into a heated argument. The argument led to Ivan killing his son. and heir. This left Ivan with only his weaker second son to rule after he dies.
