Cavour was appointed the prime minister of Sardinia-Piedmont by King Victor Emmanuel II. Cavour was a liberal statesman that helped achieve Italian unity and made advancements. -
Franco-Sardinian War
Covour make an alliance with France, where France agrees to help Sardinia-Piedmont if Austria starts a war with them. Cavour provokes Austria and they declare war and shortly after were defeated. Sardinia gained the kingdom of Lombardy and France gained the kingdoms of Savoy and Nice. -
Capturing of Two Sicilies
Garibaldi, along with his Red Shirt Army and the rebels in the south, conquered the Two Sicilies for the unification of Italy. There was a vote and the Sicilies were annexed into Sardinia under Victor Emmanuel II. -
Dutch countries annexation to Sardinia
Parma, Modena and Tuscany got rid of their Austrian rulers and voted to be annexed into Sardinia-Piedmont. -
United Italy

Otto Von Bismarck is named the Prime Minister of Prussia and used his tough style of politics called realpolitik to built up Prussia's army and expand. -
Danish War
Bismark provaked a war with Denmark over the provinces of Schleswig and Holstein. Prussia and Austria defeated Denmark and jointly owned those provinces. -

Italy allied with Prussia to fight against Austria and Prussia's superior army defeated Austria, causing them to surrender Venetia to Italy. -
North German Confederation
Bismark annexed many Northern German states and tried to persuade others to join them. This collection of countries became the North German Confederation. -
Franco-Prussian War
Bismark started a war with France, so that South German states would feel war time nationalism and merge with the northern states volunterely. This plan worked and the states were united. -
Capture of Rome
The Franco-Prussian War caused France to withdrawal its trrops from Rome. Italy took advantage of this and entered Rome, a vote declared that Rome would be annexed into Italy and would become the capital of the newly unified country. -
German Empire Established
The Palace of Versailles was captured in France and King Wilhelm I of Prussia was crowned kaiser of the new united company.
