It sparked in him the wish to have helped; in the article, he says: "...I wish I could have talked to this kid for five minutes. I wish I could have told Billy that it gets better." -

MTV is a very prominent tv channel/website that draws a massive amount of young viewers. By posting this article to their website, the Project gains viewers and supporters and it explodes into action! -
The President Shows His Support
President Obama submits a video to the Project. That is a giant and important moment in the Project's history, because having Obama's support will probably mean a lot to some kids-- those who wouldn't be convinced by celebrities or random citizens submitting videos. The President makes this cause legitimate, and having his support makes you feel good about what you're doing. His video is here. -
It Gets Better, the Book!
Since not everyone has access to the internet, a book is created to spread the message as well. It is filled with essays, quotes, stories, and pictures of all sorts of people, same as the videos. Read more here. -
The Creators Get An Award
Dan Savage recieves a Webby Award for his work with the Project, for helping LGBT+ youth overcome bullying. The Webby Awards is an award given out by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, for excellence on the Internet. -
MTV Hosts a TV Special
MTV hosts a TV special entitled "It Gets Better", featuring videos of support within the TV special in order to get the message out to those who may not have seen it on Youtube. An article about the special can be found here. -
The It Gets Better Tour
The It Gets Better Project teams up with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles to bring their message to the stage. Their website and tour schedule can be found here -
It Gets Better Project Supports Russia
Due to Russia's strict anti-gay laws being extremely enforced recently, the It Gets Better Project is branching out to help Russian youth. A new organization will make videos to spread the message to Russian youth; the videos will be translated into English and Russian. That article can be read here -
