Steam Engines
James Watt invented the steam engine. It was used to make steam into energy. It was used for locomotives and steamboats to make them run easily. -
Factory systems
Samuel Slater came up with the idea of factory systems. All the steps of manufacturing occured in one location. Built near water and mostly in New England. Brought machines and workers under one roof; Increased growth of cities; Job oppurtunities and clothing indusrtry increased. -
Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney created the cotton gin. It's used to remove cotton seeds from the cotton. It made labor easier for people in the cotton buisness and it increased the time you can finish which boostr the economy -

National Roads
Created by Albert Gallatin. Road built from Maryland to Virginia. Allowed people to move about the country easier and aided with settlement of new areas. -
Steamboats
Robert Falton invented the steamboat. It allowed people to bring more things and faster. It made it easier to transport goods and people. -
Erie Canal
Created by John C. Calhoun. Waterway thatr linked Buffalo to New York City. Many towns were built on the canal and it boost the economy because of faster travel. -
Lowell Mills
Francis Cabot Lowell invented it. Girls came to work 12 hours shifts and live in boarding homes. Increased job oppurtunities for young, unmarried women; gave chance for education, put some workers in danger. -
Telegraph
Samuel F.B. Morse created it. machine used to communicate by tapping out codes that could be translated. Improved communication by making it faster; connected regions of the country together. -
Steel Plow
The steel plow was invented by John Deere. It allowed farmers to turn heavy sod easily. Made farmng less physically demanding and made it easier to grow crops. -
Sewing Machine
Elias Howe created it. It helped sew faster and easier. It allowed the economy to grow and more clothing could be produced as well as other things. -
transcontinental railroad
Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad made it. Railroad that connects the Atlantic and Pacific coast. Improved transportation as goods and people would be connected as they moved west.
